Aviation Day is a free, annual community event organized by the Lee County Port Authority aimed at educating the residents of Southwest Florida about the social and economic benefit to the region by aviation. Aviation Day will be held at Page Field General Aviation Airport in Fort Myers on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is held on the north ramp off N. Airport Road. PlanetPPG will have a booth and display equipment at the show.

This year, the main attraction will be a P-51D Mustang, which began its service at Page Field Army Base in 1945. In addition, visitors can also view a North American B-25J Mitchell, a World War II medium bomber made famous by General James Doolittle and the pilots who flew the daring raid on Japan in 1942. It is interesting to note that training on this aircraft type was conducted at Page Field

Other attractions will include experimental, antique and military plane exhibits, plane rides, performances by a 17-piece big band ensemble, children's activities and character appearances, demonstrations by airport police and fire departments, refreshments and more.

Though admission is free, we are asking those coming to the event to help our local community by bringing a non-perishable food item. All donations will benefit The Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida whose mission is to overcome hunger in our communities through education and by working in a cooperative effort with affiliated agencies in the procurement and distribution of food, equitably and without discrimination.
